The Humble Change, Inc.

Our Story

In 2009, our founder, Mikel, began working with students in underserved communities, including young people transitioning back into society after involvement with the juvenile justice system. Through tutoring, mentoring, and personal guidance, he helped young people build confidence, identify opportunities, and connect with resources that could support their future.

From 2009 to 2019, Mikel worked with more than 25 students, helping them develop relationships with career mentors and gain access to resources focused on education, career development, and entrepreneurship. These experiences revealed a larger need: young people and underserved communities needed consistent access to the relationships, resources, and opportunities that could help them create a different future.

That vision became The Humble Change.

On March 31, 2021, The Humble Change was officially established as a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to mentorship, resources, and opportunities for individuals and communities across Mississippi.

Today, The Humble Change serves communities in 7 of Mississippi's 82 counties. While we are proud of the progress we've made, we know there is more work to do.

Our vision is simple: expand access across all 82 counties so that every community has an opportunity to connect with the mentorship, resources, and support they need to thrive.

This is more than an organization. It's a commitment to creating pathways to opportunity, one person, one community, and one humble change at a time
